One of the inevitable frustrations of publishing, for those of us who live and die by our visual sense, is the necessity to keep illustrations limited, and to avoid the immense expense of color images of high quality. My solution was to promise readers I'd provide them with a full accounting of the pictures that didn't make it into the book, and the ones that were translated from color to black-and-white.
